Weird lil poem , I admit :). It's been hanging around for a while...

Why did i write it, well it's simple. For the first time in a long time i've been able to start the day working from home again (avoiding traffic and all :P )

As the sun rises, while i check my emal... the birds start to sing. Not just the birds in the garden, but also the birds the rear neighbor keeps as pets. Their song is simple but cheerfull, and as as spring aproaches, yesterday for the 1st time this season, i heard a blue tit sing out, his tjirps ringing out, announcing his presence

I couldnt help but smile as i lit up my cigarette, staring at the tree he was in. We had quite a lot of snow this year ( for dutchies anyway) and it created a very nice holliday season. However February has come, you can smell spring on the air, sure there will be some more cold spells and probably some more snow showers.

That little guy sang his heart out, and my heart sang with him. Little things do matter, because they make you smile :)

OI BRRRR!!!! its cold

For the last few weeks its been really cold here in the netherlands. So cold we have been having like championships over here that havent been held for 12 years !! (outdoor skate marathons and stuff)

So you get out of the house at 7 am, scramble and slide over to ur car to try an chop the ice of the windows ;) ( yes my can of "defrost the windows without work" has been long emptied, and all the fuel stations are completely out, so its manual labor :P

Sound horrible doesnt it? Well it isnt cos last night i glanced out the window and saw a sight i havent seen since i was a kid :) My whole back garden is covered in 3 or 4 cm's of snow and cos on the temperature i didnt bother to take the xmas lights down yet. Yesterday the sky was totally clear and it was a fairly full moon. It meant the whole area had this "glow", i love my garden in summer, but this was something special, really magical.


Weird ey how something as lil as that can make you sit up and notice and go through the day with a very big smile on your face :)

As the year draws to an end, i've always used this period to look back and reflect.
First of all, why is this blog in english, well it's simple, i just love the english language :D, it has way more words then the dutch language and it just flows so much nicer..sorry dutchies :P (Not to mention, my life has been dual language for such a long time I even dream in English every now and again)

Back to why im writing this ...reflections...
Everyone should take the time, once in a while, to just sit back, put ur feet up and think...think about the past, the present, the future...what was ...what is...and what could be (note NOT what will be...I cant read the stars...I wont ever will be able to read the stars so im not even gonna try to ;) )

Why this time of year, well for me its simple...its the only time of year im kinda forced to shut down :) (yes yes yes workaholic i know). Things really slow down over the summer hollidays, but you know, this time of year everything bussiness wise just simply shuts down until the 1st week of januay, and to be honest, as I get older, I realise that's good!

I think about how i started this year not being politically correct at the office, stepping up and cracking the whip, it needed doing but wasnt nice, some of it was acted, other times it was pure emotion...I think about how i stepped in in other situations, just because it needed doing...all for one and one for all...gawd how cheesy can you get ...it was good though....I think about just going wild for a once..letting go and buying the car i dreamed of for quite a while (yes im nearly 40....did you guess :P)...I think about do or die missions in GW (Eternal grove anyone?)...I think about silly jokes at the office...i think about how this year started in a fog so incredibly thick you couldnt see the side of the road, yet a friend drove me home (Respect!!!)
Last but not least....I thought about discovering lost treasure...a treasure found while cleaning up very old emails out of my inbox. I decided to act upon that one email and im glad i did.
All in all people..... Take the time, once a while, to stop and think...to stop and smile ... and to stop and cry
